For the Noble Blanket and the Noble Cushion Museeum works together with Germany’s last remaining fully operational cloth mill in which every step, from scouring through dying and spinning to weaving, is carried out on site. Located in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria, the mill operates as a family business since 350 years and brings together age-old cloth-making handcraft and passion for their particular products with the technical progress of modernity.

In medieval Europe, weavers and cloth-makers were highly respected tradesmen who established guilds and brought wealth to many a city. Producing woollen fabrics, however, from raw wool is a long process in which, even today, several complex steps have to be carried out. Yet, over the last century, traditional ways of making wool have all but disappeared.
